About Our Support Service

Tapton School is home to the Sheffield Vision Support Service, a Local Authority education service for vision impaired children and young people from 0-25 who live in Sheffield.

The service runs the integrated resource at Tapton School for children who have a severe or profound vision impairment. The provision enables these students to fully access the school community and curriculum. 

The team also support all young people across the city with a vision impairment. From initial diagnosis, they work with all stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people. 

The services consists of:

  • Qualified specialist teachers
  • Specialist teaching assistants
  • Registered habilitation specialists
  • Curriculum support staff. 

They provide ongoing specialist support and educational provision to enable each young person to reach their potential and become independent young adults who are included in all aspects of their community.
