The Sunday Times’ Parent Power guide is widely regarded as the UK’s most comprehensive ranking of schools, evaluating performance across academic results, student outcomes, and wider achievements. Tapton’s recognition as the North’s top comprehensive underscores its commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and a supportive learning environment.
Tapton has long been committed to providing high-quality education for all students, with the school's diverse community a key strength.
Kat Rhodes, Trust Executive Director, expressed her delight at the recognition:
“We’re absolutely thrilled. The main thing for me is Tapton has been a comprehensive since it opened in 1960, and to receive comprehensive school of the year in the guide really resonates for us all.
Whilst we are situated in a leafy suburb, we draw from lots of communities all over Sheffield, and we believe everyone can achieve excellence at Tapton."
The award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of both staff and students.
Kat continued:
“I’ll be going to the newsagents to buy a copy of the paper, and at some point we’ll have a gathering to celebrate everyone’s hard work, because it has been a team effort."
With this accolade, Tapton continues to build on a legacy of fostering academic achievement, personal growth, and community engagement, setting a benchmark for comprehensive education in the region.
